From Service to Service: Honouring Veterans in the Plumbing Trade This Remembrance Day

Nov 7, 2024 | Educational

As Remembrance Day draws near, we at Noble BC would like to take a moment to thank our nation’s veterans who have answered the call to serve—as well as acknowledge the fact that many continue to fulfill an important need by working in the trade industries. Plumbing in Vancouver would not be the same without the help of these fine individuals who bring a strong sense of professionalism and dedication to our field.

Veterans in the Plumbing Industry: Paving the Way to Success

Most veterans find employment shortly after leaving the military, and the labour market outcomes of Canadian veterans remain particularly strong, thanks in part to the skills they acquire while serving. Exceptionalism, professionalism and attention to detail are vital skills employers look for in the plumbing and hydronics industries. Because these values are so heavily instilled in our veterans, it should come as no surprise that a sizable percentage enter these fields of employment.

Serving Those Who Have Served Us During Remembrance Day and Beyond

Remembrance Day is an important time to acknowledge our veterans’ sacrifices. We must also recognize that many veterans struggle once they are discharged from the military. Many of our nation’s veterans are living with both physical and emotional wounds connected to their service. While some have lost close friends during overseas conflicts, others may be facing ongoing challenges due to physical injuries or posttraumatic stress. For these reasons, communities nationwide must continue to offer support and provide the help they need to heal.

Helping Our Veterans Through Community Support and Services

Although this time of the year is special, it can also be challenging for veterans and their families. For those who are struggling to find employment, the Legion Military Skills Conversion Program is a remarkable initiative that helps advance the civilian careers of Canadian veterans. In addition to employment assistance, many other types of support services are offered to our veterans. As many continue to live with operational stress injuries, Operational Stress Injury Social Support provides a support network for veterans living with OSIs and their families. In addition to these programs, many resources are available to veterans throughout the country. You can view a list of these on the Veterans Transition Network.

As Remembrance Day approaches, Noble BC extends our heartfelt gratitude to Canada’s veterans for their service. Many have transitioned into trades like plumbing, bringing unmatched professionalism and dedication to our industry. This Remembrance Day, we honor their continued contributions to our community and our country.
